In the book of Kings, we are told of how the Lord appeared to Solomon in a dream and said to him, “Ask what I shall give you” (1 Kings 3:5). If you were Solomon, what would your response be? Perhaps wealth and riches? Or Good health? Or perhaps a good night sleep for those with young children!?

We all have our needs and wants in life, but as believers, scripture often reminds us of the great treasure we have in Christ Jesus. Reflecting on his worldly accolades, Paul said, “…I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord…” Philippians 3:8.

Peter also said, “His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence” 2 Peter 1:3.

In Christ, we have entered a relationship with God as His adopted children (Ephesians 1:5). Nothing is more valuable than being a child of the King and sharing in the inheritance of Christ, as well as having our names written in the Lambs book of Life. While this may seem like a future truth to be realised, the reality is that we can taste of these blessings in Christ as we live as empowered by the Holy Spirit.

In Christ, we have all we need to live a blessed and fruitful life, pleasing and acceptable unto God and worthy of the calling. Be enlightened and encouraged by this truth today.

Blessings,

Chris Eke
